Chennai: Police have registered a case against actress and model Meera Mithun for allegedly insulting the Dalit community. The case was registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) office bearer Vanniyarash.
In a video uploaded by Meera on the 7th of this month, she allegedly spoke insultingly to the Dalit community. In the video, it was said that all Dalits are criminals and that Dalit directors should be expelled from the Tamil film industry. With this, there was a huge protest. They have been in controversy before over various references.
