Catherine Slemp named West Virginia health officer

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – Interim state state interim officer, Dr Catherine Slemp, was appointed permanently.

Department of Health and Human Resources, Bill Crouch, announced the appointment of Slemp on Friday to join the Public Health Bureau.


Slemp started working in the Department of Health and Human Resources in 1994 and worked as a state health officer operating from 2002 to 2011. She returned in 2018 in an interim role when he succeeded Dr Rahul Gupta from the state health office to become Senior Dates & Senior Vice President and Chief Medical and Health Officer.

Crouch said that Slemp is committed to creating a healthier condition and is highly regarded in South Australia and nationally.

Slemp held his medical degree from the University of Dublin and a master's degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University.
