CDU leader Friedrich Merz wrote on Twitter: “After a long and serious illness, our parliamentary colleague and friend Gero Storjohann passed away today. We mourn with his family and friends.”
Merz also wrote: “We will keep him in the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in honor.” His thoughts are with Storjohann’s relatives. The CDU MP Sepp Müller praised Storjohann as a passionate parliamentarian.

According to the “Hamburger Abendblatt”, Storjohann has been in intensive care since April last year and, according to a CDU district chairman, was not responsive. The 64-year-old represented the Schleswig-Holstein constituency of Segeberg/Stormarn-Mitte in the Bundestag. He has been a member of the Bundestag since 2002. The passionate cyclist lived with his wife Maren in Seth near Bad Segeberg. He also leaves behind three adult sons.
