Celltrion, a defending champion led by Shin Jin-seo, advances to the Go League playoffs by defeating Com2Stagem

Shin Jinseo 9 Dan set a new record of 24 consecutive Go league wins and placed his team Celltrion in the playoffs.

Celltrion, who holds the No. 1 ranking Shin Jinseo 9 Dan, defeated Com2Stay Gem 3-0 in the 3rd round of the 2021-2022 KB Kookmin Bank Go League semi-playoff match held at Go TV Studio in Korea Kiwon, Seongdong-gu, Seoul on the 27th, and the overall record was 2-1. and made it to the playoffs.

Celltrion achieved a perfect victory, starting with captain Shin Jin-seo’s 9-dan lead, and Kang Seung-min and Lee Won-do’s 8-dan victories one after another.

In particular, Shin Jin-seo 9 dan defeated Han Sang-jo 4 dan in 142 moves, and recorded 24 consecutive Go league victories.

Shin Jinseo 9 Dan, which has been winning consecutively since March of last year, broke the previous record of 23 consecutive wins by Won Seong-jin 9 Dan and broke the record for the best Go League winning streak.

Shin Jinseo 9 Dan said, “I’m happy to make it to the playoffs. Since POSCO Chemical is a strong enemy, it takes a lot of preparation, but I think it’s a game worth trying as our team’s players are improving overall condition. I will prepare well.”

Won-do Lee, 8th Dan, said, “I felt a lot of apologetics towards the coach and the team members while losing the semi-playoffs for the second time in a row. I am happy that today’s victory led to a team victory and helped. I would like to thank the director for trusting me and appointing me.”

Celltrion, who had barely climbed into the postseason by placing 6th in the regular league overall results, is progressing one step at a time, winning play-in tournaments, wild card finals, and semi-playoffs.

Celltrion will play the third playoff game with POSCO Chemical from the 30th.

The winning team will play the 5th championship match against Sooryehan Hapcheon starting on the 7th of next month.

In the 2021-2022 KB Kookmin Bank Baduk League, which competes for the final ranking in the play-in tournament and postseason stages following the regular league in which 9 teams competed, the team prize money is 200 million won for the championship, 100 million won for the runner-up, 50 million won for the third place, 4th place is 25 million won and 5th place is 15 million won.
