Cercle Brugge secured a 2-1 victory over FCV Dender EH in the Belgian Pro League Relegation Group on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Jan Breydel Stadium in Bruges. The win moved Cercle Brugge into second place in the relegation round standings, while Dender remained in fourth.

Oumar Diakité scored both goals for Cercle Brugge, finding the net in the 29th and 70th minutes. His first goal came from an assist by Edan Diop, and the second was set up by his brother, Ibrahim Diakité. Malcolm Viltard scored Dender’s lone goal in the 84th minute.

Cercle Brugge controlled 52% of possession and recorded 13 shots, with an expected goals (xG) total of 0.559. Dender had 48% possession and generated 0.76 xG from their chances.

The match was part of the Relegation Group Round 4 of the Belgian Pro League. Cercle Brugge entered the game having won their previous two matches in the relegation round, while Dender had suffered a heavy 1-4 defeat to Cercle just five days earlier on April 19, 2026.

In that earlier encounter, Geoffrey Kondo opened the scoring for Cercle in the second minute, before Noah Mbamba equalized for Dender in stoppage time of the first half. Ibrahima Diaby and Steve Ngoura extended Cercle’s lead in the second half, and Edan Diop sealed the 4-1 win with a goal in the 61st minute.

Following that result, Dender was confirmed to finish last in the regular season standings and must now compete in promotion-relegation playoffs to avoid demotion from the top flight. Cercle Brugge, meanwhile, are positioned to avoid the playoffs entirely with a strong finish in the relegation group.

Referee Michiel Allaerts oversaw the April 24 match, which saw Cercle Brugge extend their advantage in the head-to-head record against Dender to two wins in their three meetings this season.
