According to major foreign media and the automobile industry on the 20th, the two will hold a 20-minute interview at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 22nd.
At this event, President Joe Biden is expected to express his gratitude to Chairman Chung Eui-sun for the establishment of an electric vehicle plant in the United States.
During President Joe Biden’s visit to Korea, Hyundai Motor Company plans to announce the construction of an electric vehicle plant worth 9 trillion won in Georgia.
This is a measure to reinforce the Joe Biden government’s strong electric vehicle industry promotion policy and to strengthen its position in the U.S. market.
A Hyundai Motor Group official said, “In addition to the announcement of the construction of the electric vehicle plant, we plan to explain the future business of Hyundai Motor Group to President Joe Biden.”
Hyundai Motor Group plans to reorganize the proportion of future mobility businesses such as electric vehicles, UAM and robotics to 50%, personal vehicles such as UAMs to 30%, and robotics to 20%.
It is known that Chairman Chung Eui-sun will request active support for these businesses as President Joe Biden has shown great interest in companies that are investing in the United States.
In 2020, Hyundai Motor Group established Momental in partnership with Aptiv, an American autonomous driving company, and started a food delivery service with the self-driving electric vehicle Ioniq 5 from this month.
Last year, the U.S. UAM corporation Supernal was established, and it is building a commercialization model that encompasses UAM development, manufacturing, sales, operation, and maintenance.
In the same year, it acquired an 80% stake in Boston Dynamics, a global robot company, for about 1 trillion won.
