Chance of heavy rain in the state; Yellow Alert in nine districts | Kerala Rain Yellow alert in Nine Districts

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains and isolated heavy showers in the state for the next five days. The Met office said that there is a possibility of thundershowers.

The rains were caused by a new low in the Bay of Bengal and a cyclone in the Arabian Sea. A yellow alert was issued in various districts on Wednesday. The alert was issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Palakkad districts.

Thursday (25-11-2021) Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Wayanad

Friday (26-11-2021) Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Wayanad

Saturday (27-11-2021) Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad.

Sunday (28-11-2021) Yellow Alert in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts.

Isolated thundershowers are likely in the hilly areas, the Met office said. The recommendation is to take similar precautions to the Orange Alert in hilly areas.

New low pressure area is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours. The epicenter was reported below the Pacific Ocean floor, however; no tsunami alert was issued.
