Mavelikkara: Thiruvananthapuram Aruvikuzhi Veeranakavu Kripanilayam Sandhya (27) has been arrested in a case of abducting a minor girl whom he met through social media.

Police said Sandhya befriended the girl and abducted her after introducing her as a man. The accused was arrested from Thrissur under the Poxo Act in the case of abducting a Plus One student from Alappuzha district after meeting her on social media.

Police said that there were 2 poxo cases at Kattakada station in Sandhya in 2016 for harassing a 14-year-old girl. Sandhya is married and the mother of a child. In 2016, Sandhya, who was sentenced to six months in the Poxo case registered by the Kattakada police, spent three years with a woman he met while convicted in a drug case while in jail.

In 2019, a case of assault was registered in the name of Sandhya at the Mangalore police station. Police said they have received information that Sandhya has links with drug gangs. According to the police, the group had set up friendly groups on social media to get the girls to talk about their personal problems.

The student befriended Chandu on a social media account under a pseudonym. The girl went missing 9 days ago. Police said Sandhya confiscated the girl’s cash and gold. Police say the victims were connected via social media messenger apps and only through laptops using Wi-Fi.

The real name and phone number were found from the social media account with the help of Cyber ​​Cell. Police said the student did not realize it was a woman until she was arrested.
