How did this national industrial heritage tourism base come to be?

“The Cradle of New Chinese Movies” tempered in the flames of war

The Changying Site Museum is located in the Changchun Film Studio.

“In the 1950s and 1960s, the probability of encountering celebrities on the streets of Changchun was much higher than that of Hong Kong now, because Changchun is a movie city, with the Changchun Film Studio with the longest history in China, and a film predecessor who has made countless classic works. It is the courtyard where we live and work.” A commentator of the Changying Site Museum told reporters.

The early building of Changchun Film Studio, formerly known as Manchuria Film Co., Ltd. (referred to as “Manying”), a Japanese cultural invasion agency, was founded in August 1937. After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, CPC members Liu Jianmin and Zhao Dongli secretly entered the “Manying”, organized progressive workers to carry out a struggle to protect the factory, and established the Northeast Film Company on October 1, 1945, and officially changed its name to Changchun Film Studio in 1955.

At that time, Changying gathered a large number of literary and artistic backbones from the Yan’an Film Troupe and the liberated areas in Guannei, established a Chinese film creation and production model, shot and copied a large number of classic films, and trained and delivered a large number of talents for domestic film studios. “The Cradle of New Chinese Cinema”.

“Changying was born in the fire of war. In the beginning, it was where the troops hit and where the film was filmed. My father was the director of Changying. He often told me the stories of past movies. The revolutionary spirit and heroic spirit were written into Changying. It’s in human genes.” Liu Xiaofei, a 64-year-old filmmaker, told reporters.

Liu Xiaofei grew up at the Changying University since he was a child. He likes going to the theater to watch movies the most. He has also performed many times in ensemble performances and dubbed many dubbed films. He told reporters that the current site museum is the original office building of Changying, where classic films such as “The White-Haired Girl”, “Dong Cunrui”, “Shangganling” and “Heroes and Sons” were polished and grown with countless Chinese people.

Repeated discussions and sorting, inheritance of precious treasures

Years have changed, and many buildings in the Changying compound have become cultural relics, not to mention the film resources that have been accumulated and passed down over the years. In order to protect and make good use of this precious treasure, and to record the beginning, progress, prosperity and changes of the Changchun Film Studio, in 2011, Changying Group launched the construction project of the Changying Site Museum.

In several symposiums held, long shadow artists, critics, historians, and art creation cadres gathered together, often arguing over a specific issue. “Ji Hongchang” director Qi Xing’s pipe has been smoking all the time, and his smoky face sometimes frowns and sometimes smiles; Chang Yan, the director of “Secret Bureau’s Gunshots”, is a strong and heroic old man, when it comes to constructive When I have an opinion, I will shed tears when I am excited…

After investigations and experts, the exhibition outline of the museum was polished after dozens of revisions, but the discussion is still going on. The screening and scanning of tens of thousands of fixed makeup photos, the collection and interception of thousands of video materials, the search for the materials of hundreds of seniors who have lost contact, countless text and picture proofreading, all the complicated work, and finally make the museum “feather into a butterfly” .

“The museum has three floors. Through cultural relics, art preservation and exhibitions, it comprehensively introduces the process of the Communist Party of China’s acceptance of ‘Manying’ and the establishment of the Northeast Film Studio, showing the development and prosperity of the older generation of filmmakers for the new China’s film industry. The pioneering contribution made by the film, as well as the little-known behind-the-scenes stories and historical materials, and for the first time comprehensively and systematically revealed the people’s film “Seven Firsts” and some precious video materials, picture materials and historical objects that have never been seen before.” Explained staff said.

Restoring industrial sites and recreating the history of light and shadow

“I have seen many films here, and I am very impressed, but many young people feel very unfamiliar. I think these classic films should not be forgotten. They carry a history that cannot be forgotten.” A post-70s tourist sighed with emotion say.

In the museum, a large number of classic films such as “Chinese Daughter”, “Guests on the Iceberg” and “Founding of the People’s Republic of China” come alive in the designer’s creativity. Put yourself in the restored movie scene, listen to the little-known behind-the-scenes stories, and immerse yourself in the creative process with the protagonists in the movie.

On the first floor of the exhibition hall, a large multimedia projection screen with a length of 12 meters and a height of 2.5 meters reproduces the screen image in the classic films of Changying. At that time, the exterior scene of the old movie theater was also restored. The movie ticket stubs scattered on the ground and the old posters of the movie theater were as fresh as yesterday. The interior scene of the old movie theater was turned 90 degrees, creating an infinite visual extension through the reflection of the mirrors on both sides.

The commentator told reporters that the exhibition area of ”Jiawu Fengyun” is one of the favorite exhibition areas for tourists. With its outstanding achievements in thought and art, this film has established its status in the history of Chinese contemporary films. Deng Shichang’s roar of “hitting Yoshino” has left a deep impression on countless moviegoers. The exhibition area restores the scene on the ship, and visitors can experience the splendor of sinking the Yoshino by turning the wheel stack.

The Changying Site Museum has restored its appearance and restored many industrial sites such as the Changying Mixed Recording Studio, Photo Studio, Printing Workshop, Subtitle Room, and the Twelfth Screening Room. Props exhibition, translation exhibition, studio hall and other exhibition areas systematically integrate the development history of film industry theme tourism and long film, showing the traditional production process of film and the mystery of film shooting.

In 2021, the Changying Site Museum, which has been awarded many national awards, will be selected as one of the “100 Red Tourism Routes for the 100 Years of the Founding of the Party”. As a must-visit “check-in” place in Changchun, the museum has received more than 5 million tourists since its opening in 2014. (Reporter Liu Shanshan)
