Ferrari F1 found a crack in Charles Leclerc’s monocoque after qualifying for the Qatar Grand Prix. Decided to build a new chassis for the final.

Charles Leclerc was forced to struggle in the F1 Qatar GP qualifying and was eliminated in Q2. I was at a loss for the lack of grip. However, after qualifying, Ferrari thoroughly checked Charles Leclerc’s car and found a crack that was likely due to overcoming the curb on the first run of Q1.

This weekend, the curb at Losail International Circuit damaged several cars, and Haas F1’s Nikita Mazepin was forced to replace the chassis after FP1. Also, in Q3, Pierre Guthrie of Alpha Tauri Honda F1 broke the front wing in the final attack and was hit by a flat tire.

“It’s clear that the damage to the chassis that’s currently being replaced affected the behavior of the car,” said Laurent Mekeys, Ferrari’s racing director.

“Now, mechanics are facing the big challenge of repairing car 16 in time.”

Laurent Mekeys “correcting in time” means that Charles Leclerc will build a new chassis in the time needed to avoid the pit lane start in the final.

Charles Leclerc’s teammate Carlos Sainz will start the F1 Qatar Grand Prix on the 7th grid, but Laurent Mekies emphasized the importance of reliability on the day of the race.

“Reliability will be more important than ever, as we learned at the sacrifice we made this afternoon,” Laurent Mekeys said. ..

“On our side, we will do our best to make the changes in our favor, especially when playing against major rivals.”

“It was a tough day, but it’s not over yet and we have a chance to win a lot of championship points.”
