Hakim Ziyech left the field in Morocco early and is on his way back to Chelsea.
Ziyech has yet to make his competitive debut with the Blues following his summer move from Ajax.
The attacking midfielder sustained a knee injury in the pre-season friendly against Brighton & Hove Albion and has since been absent for Chelsea, missing Premier League matches against Brighton, Liverpool, West Brom and Crystal Palace.
On Friday he returned to the field for Morocco, coming off the bench for the last half hour and scoring a goal in the 3-1 friendly win against Senegal in Rabat.
However, football.london understands that Ziyech is now returning to London rather than staying for Morocco’s second friendly, also in Rabat, against the Democratic Republic of Congo on Tuesday night.
His departure is thought to have been agreed upon prior to the Senegal match, so there is no suggestion of a new injury or a recurrence of the previous problem.
So, hopefully, the 27-year-old should be available to Frank Lampard for Chelsea’s next Premier League game against Southampton in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge next Saturday (17 October).
