China alleges that Flightradar24 or flight information involving espionage constitutes a threat to military security-Hong Kongunwire.hk

Flightradar24, founded by the Swedes in 2006, provides citizens and government agencies with real-time flight information, including detailed flight information, real-time locations and flight trajectories. Flightradar24 uses signal-receiving devices called ADS_B to monitor aircraft in the sky. The Chinese government recently stated that these ADS_B devices can receive real-time data from civil aviation flights, and can also receive data from military aircraft and transmit them abroad. The device is classified as a spy tool. Except for the Flightrader24 mobile phone program that cannot be downloaded in China, all ADS_B devices installed in China will be gradually removed.

Flightradar24 will give ADS_B to aviation fans of various countries, asking them to place ADS_B by the window to monitor and collect flight data within a radius of more than 300 kilometers. According to a report from China Central Television, Flightradar24 will upload advertisements for recruiting volunteers to major platforms, indicating that as long as you join as a volunteer, it will provide free equipment, share aviation information and data, and provide lifelong senior membership for recruitment, attracting a lot of Chinese Aviation and radio fans apply. Since ADS_B can be connected to the network to transmit data abroad, it has aroused the dissatisfaction of the Chinese government, accusing it of placing ADS_B equipment or espionage and illegally transmitting domestic aviation data abroad.

Studies have shown that as long as about 300 ADS_Bs are installed in China, they can monitor aircraft signals in the national airspace. In addition to monitoring civil aircraft, the models and flight trajectories of military aircraft can also be seen at a glance, posing a direct threat to military security and aviation security. Therefore, national security agencies and regulatory agencies launched an investigation and found hundreds of signal receiving devices illegally placed in China.
