China’s Wang Yi meets with the UN Secretary General to target the US… Pursuit of self-interest in some major countries

Amid the growing conflict between the United States and China, Wang Yi, the State Councilor and Foreign Minister responsible for China’s foreign affairs, met with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, noting that some major powers are going self-interested and aimed at the United States.

According to China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 25th, Wang Yi conveyed his country’s position on the issue of US-China relations and Ukraine in a meeting with Secretary General Guterres in New York on the 23rd (local time).

Director Wang said, “Major countries, especially the permanent members of the Security Council, must comply with international law, uphold the authority of the United Nations, practice multilateralism, and take the lead in helping developing countries. They forming small groups everywhere in the name of being careful and maintaining the so-called rules.”

Although he did not refer to a specific country, it is in fact a statement aimed directly at the United States.

“China firmly supports the core position of the United Nations in international affairs and will firmly support the greater role of the United Nations in responding to peace and security challenges,” he said.

“China’s core position is to encourage reconciliation and dialogue,” he said on the Ukraine issue, adding “we will stand on the side of peace and continue to play a constructive role in our own way.”

In response, Secretary General Guterres said, “I am very concerned about the difficulties that developing countries are experiencing because of the crisis in Ukraine. I hope,” he said.
