chinese-man-lives-in-airport-for-14-years-to-escape-family-rules | The wife and the young man left the airport saying they could not drink or smoke

Most husbands need their wives’ permission to drink alcohol. Wives have restrictions on how much alcohol they can drink and on what days. The news of Wei Jiangyu, a Chinese man who changed his residence and turned the airport into a house after his family’s interference became unbearable, is noteworthy.

He has been staying at the airport for the last 14 years. He is at the Beijing Capital International Airport. His sleep and accommodation were all among the passengers. Often sleeping on a mat on the bare floor of the waiting room. He kept his box, bed and other belongings in this waiting room. Every morning he would go to the nearest supermarket. From there you can buy steamed pork buns and a bowl of breakfast porridge, lunch and alcohol. Then, return to the airport. He has also set up a mobile kitchen there using an electric cooker he brought from home.

He left home to teach his wife a lesson when his wife threatened to quit smoking and drinking if she wanted to stay home. He worked in an internal combustion engine factory for 20 years. But in his 40s he was fired. Later he did retail work but was evicted from many places due to old age. So, I stopped looking for work. After a quarrel with his family, he first slept at the railway station and at the airport. Eventually it was settled in Terminal-2.

He now pays for his expenses with a monthly government allowance of 1,000 yuan. When he leaves home, he will have to pay the monthly government allowance he now receives at home. Wei then asks how he can buy cigarettes and alcohol. His wife and their parents live in Wangjing, just 20 kilometers from the airport. Yet he says he has no desire to go back there and no freedom at home.
