Cho Dong-yeon, former chairman of the Joint Election Committee, who was chosen as presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung’s ‘first recruit’ last year but resigned due to privacy controversy, revealed his feelings in an interview with the British Daily The Guardian .

In an interview on the 18th (local time), Cho admitted in an interview that he tried to kill himself after the argument about being out of marriage at the time, and that he had considered suicide several times after that.

“My family and my children have gone through a lot of hardships,” explained Cho. “As a mother, I wanted to protect them.” “One day the children told me that the past was okay because they knew their mother was trying to protect them,” she said. “That word saved my life.”

Cho said, “In Korean society, expectations for celebrities and other public figures are very high. Maybe 10 or 20 years from now, people will see things differently, but I hope that what I have ‘to prove it helps to bring about such a change.’ .

Cho, who is currently a professor of military affairs at Seokyeong University, also said he plans to continue teaching in the future and hopes to one day write a book about his experiences. However, he added that he was not sure if he would be able to raise his children in Korea.

Previously, Cho resigned three days after being selected as chairman of the joint election in late November last year when controversy arose over the Garosero Research Institute (Ka Se-yeon) and others. After resigning, Cho revealed that his child was not born through adultery during marriage, but was sexually assaulted. He also filed a defamation lawsuit against Gas Se-yeon and Kang Yong-seok.
