Comedian Chris Rock, the victim of Will Smith’s assault at the Oscars, took the stage for the first time since the incident and received a standing ovation from the audience.

According to CNN on the 31st (local time), Rock resumed a comedy performance at a theater in Boston the day before.

The crowd gave Rock a five-minute standing ovation as Rock took the stage, and Rock brought tears to his eyes.

“I’m still dealing with what happened (at the Oscars),” he said, “but we’ll talk about it at some point.”

At the Oscars on the 27th, Smith allegedly slapped Rock’s face when he joked about his wife (Jada Pinkett Smith), who suffers from alopecia.

Smith later apologized to Rock, saying, “I crossed the line and I have no excuses.”

The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which hosts the Oscars, is in the process of disciplinary action against Smith.
