HDC Hyundai Development Company announced on the 17th that Chairman Chung Mong-gyu would apologize to the public for the resignation of the Gwangju construction site.

According to Hyundai Development Company, Chairman Chung expressed his position on the collapse of the outer wall of Hwajeong I-Park in Seo-gu, Gwangju at 10 am on the same day at the headquarters of I-Park Mall in Yongsan, Seoul.

Chairman Jung is expected to make a promise to prevent recurrence along with an apology to the public.

In particular, he is expected to announce his intention to resign while feeling responsible for the current situation.

It is known that Chairman Chung discussed the accident management plan and future measures with Yoo Byung-gyu, CEO of Hyundai Development Company, at the site of the Gwangju disaster on the 12th, the day after the collapse, and then spent the weekend pondering the issue of whereabouts at his home in Seoul.

Chairman Chung is expected to step down as president of the Korea Football Association, which he has been serving for 9 years.

Previously, Hyundai Development Company caused a large-scale fatal accident in the process of demolition of the redevelopment area in Gwangju in June of last year, followed by the collapse of the outer wall of the Hwajeong I-Park apartment building under construction on the 11th, seven months later.
