Chunichi pitcher Jariel Rodriguez has reportedly failed to sign a contract with a major league team. Reported by Francis Romero of the Baseball Writers Association of America on his Twitter account. “According to sources, Rodriguez arrived in the Dominican Republic a few hours ago.”

Rodriguez played in 56 games last season with 39 catches, earning him the title of best middle pitcher. This year he participated in the Cuban national team competing in the World Baseball Classic (WBC), but unlike his colleague Rydell Martinez and Nippon-Ham catcher Ariel Martinez, he did not come to Japan after the tournament.
