Climate change and return from Kovid to be discussed at G20, COP26 summits: PM

The Prime Minister will visit Rome and the Vatican City from October 29 to 31 at the invitation of Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will discuss the global economy and the recovery from the pandemic at the Group of 20 (G20) and Conference of Parties (COP 26) summits. The Prime Minister made this clear before leaving for a visit to Europe.

The Prime Minister will visit Rome and the Vatican City from today until the 31st at the invitation of Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi. He will then travel to Glasgow, UK from November 1 to 2 at the invitation of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

“I will attend the 16th G20 summit in Rome. There he will discuss with other world leaders issues such as sustainable development, climate change, the recovery from the pandemic and the global economic situation, ”he said.

The summit will also look at how the current global situation can be assessed, how to strengthen economic resistance and how to recover from the epidemic through collective efforts.

The Prime Minister also confirmed that he will visit Pope Francis in Italy. The Prime Minister will also meet with Secretary of State His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parole.

The Prime Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said.

After the conclusion of the G20 summit on October 31, Modi will return to Glasgow to attend the 26th COP Summit and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. He emphasized the need for equal distribution of carbon footprint, fundraising, technology transfer and the importance of a sustainable lifestyle.
