Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism: “Accomplishments were made in 2022 despite the security context”

Officials from the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism (MCCAT) met on January 31, 2023 in Ouagadougou to take stock of the activities carried out during the year 2022 and agree on the ambitions 2023 from the ministry. It was in favor of the first ordinary session of the year 2023 of the Board of Directors of the Ministerial Sector (CASEM).

It was Emmanuel Ouédraogo, the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism who presided over the opening ceremony. In his address to the participants, he indicated that the role of his ministry is essential for the reconquest of the national territory, the strengthening of social cohesion and the establishment of good governance. It is in this sense that the participants deepened the reflection on the strategy to be implemented to optimize the results by placing the first ordinary session of the year 2023 of the Board of Directors of the Ministerial Sector (CASEM) under the theme: “Operationalization of the standard organization chart of ministerial departments: challenges and issues for a preforming public administration of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism”.

During this day, it was a question of examining and validating the activity report for the year 2022 of these sectors, on the one hand, and on the other hand, of projecting the prospects for 2023. More specifically, the agents of these different sectors had to examine and adopt the report on the activities of the year 2022 of the different structures of the MCCAT, discuss the governance of the department in 2022, identify the recommendations, examine and validate the prospects for the year 2023. was an opportunity for participants to discuss the challenges and issues of the operationalization of the standard organization chart of ministerial departments as far as they are concerned. As for the results of the activities of these sectors scheduled for 2022, the Minister of Communication confided that their achievements have encountered difficulties due to the security context of the country.

However, progress has been made in 2022 thanks to the resilience of all players. Among these achievements, we can cite the successful organization of the 25th edition of the Galians; financial support for 112 media outlets out of the 120 planned; the awareness of 249 tourism entrepreneurs, including 30 women, on hotel regulations, reception techniques, security prevention and customer loyalty, financing opportunities in the field of tourism, health protocols.

In addition to this, 177 cultural projects were financed by the Cultural and Tourism Development Fund (FDCT) and the carrying out of 5 audits of administrative governance in the structures of the Ministry (ST SNCF, DRCAT CLUB, DRCM CLUB, DRCAT CSD, BCMP). During the opening ceremony, Emmanuel Ouédraogo congratulated all of his collaborators and the actors who contributed to the achievement of the results.
