Profoto released the 100Ws maximum output monoblock strobe “Profoto A2” and transmitter “Profoto Connect Pro” on June 29, 2022.
With the release of the “Proforo A2” and “Connect Pro”, the “Profoto A10 Off-Camera Kit” will no longer be available for sale. The “Clic OCF Adapter II” was also announced. The release is scheduled for September 6, 2022.
Compact and lightweight monoblock strobe “Profoto A2” that can also be used as constant light
A monoblock strobe that measures W7.9 x H7.9 x D12.6 cm and is about the size of a can of juice, weighs 495 g (excluding batteries and stand adapters), is compact and lightweight, and has excellent portability. The light source is an LED, which can be used as both flash light and constant light. The suggested retail price is 144,980 yen (tax included).
When used as constant light, the maximum output is 200 lumens and the dimming range is 10 to 100%. The color temperature is 3500K and the color rendering property is CRI> 80. It has a built-in “AirX connection function” for wireless connection and can be used as part of Profoto’s lighting system.
Also, when combined with the “Clic OCF Adapter II” scheduled to be released in September 2022, all light shaping tools of the Profoto OCF series can be used. When using the A series battery Mkll, the maximum output is 400 times.

Transmitter “Profoto Connect Pro” that can control multiple strobes wirelessly
A transmitter that can remotely control individual lights with absolute output values. Profoto lights compatible with wirelessly connected “Air” and “AirX” can be synchronized or controlled manually. In addition to Non-TTL, Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Leica, and Sony are available, and the suggested retail price is 56,760 yen (tax included). However, the release date for Sony is undecided.
The large display is intuitive and easy to understand, and is positioned as the ultimate transmitter that can be operated so easily that no user manual is required. It is also possible to take over the appropriate exposure value obtained by TTL automatic dimming and switch from TTL mode to MAN mode. Battery life has also improved, and it is compatible with rechargeable batteries.
The TTL auto-dimming group control has also been improved, and up to 100 channels can be used. Mirroring is possible with the Profoto Control app for tablets and smartphones, allowing you to select the device to receive the information. Wireless updates are also possible with the Profoto Control app.
The best off-camera solution at the moment is the combination of “Profoto A2” and “Profoto Connect”. The price is about the same as the current Profoto A10 Off-Camera Kit, so it’s hard to decide whether to use the simple “Profoto Connect” or the full-control “Profoto Connect Pro.”
