Concessions for schools where 85% of students have been vaccinated

Abu Dhabi: Students in Abu Dhabi are allowed to go to school without a mask after a gap of 2 years. The exemption is for blue schools where more than 85 percent of students have been vaccinated. The Abu Dhabi Department of Education (ADEC) has also given permission to restore study tours, inter-school extracurricular activities and assemblies in these schools where Kovid restrictions have been lifted. Grace Valley Indian School in Al Ain was the first to drop out of the Blue Schools list. Students here no longer need masks and distances at school.

In the pre-Kovid situation, you can go to school and interact with friends. Adek lauded the school and its students for this exemplary achievement. Currently, 1.07 lakh students have been vaccinated. This makes up 39% of the total students. Vaccine rates for students under 12 years of age also doubled within 2 weeks. With 52,000 more parents volunteering to vaccinate their children, the number of students vaccinated is expected to rise to 59%.

Adek had earlier announced that it would give a waiver on the Covid criteria, which would be color coded according to students’ vaccine levels. Vaccineees below 50% are classified as orange, 50-64% yellow, 65-84% green and 85% blue.
