New Delhi: When Amarinder Singh joined the BJP the party he formed when he left the Congress a year ago, the question arose as to why his wife Praneet Kaur did not join. Congress MP Praneet Amarinder did not follow him even when he left the party. When asked about this, Amarinder replied as follows – “Whatever the husband does, the wife does not need to follow him.”
Praneet Kaur was the Minister of State for External Affairs in the Manmohan Singh government during 2009-2014. Currently Patiala Member of Parliament. The Congress has not asked them to resign and they have not expressed their willingness to resign. A senior BJP leader was quoted by the national media as saying that if he resigns, AAP would take that seat too.
Meanwhile, Margaret Alva, who was the presidential candidate of the opposition, tweeted that Praneet Kaur was smarter than the captain. Along with Amarinder, his son Raninder Singh, daughter Jai Inder Kaur and grandson Nirwan Singh also joined the BJP.
