Cost 63,940 crore: Kozhikode underground station; Silverline DPR out

Thiruvananthapuram: The government has released the complete plan document of the Silver Line project amid strong political and environmental opposition. The plan is to commission a financial year 2025–26. The DPR also highlights the environmental issues that may arise during the construction phase. The project cost is Rs 63,940 crore. 33,699 crore will be borrowed. Loans account for more than half of the total cost. The government and the railways have a stake.

In addition to the government website, the DPR has also been published on the Assembly website. The government’s hasty action came after Anwar Sadat MLA issued a rights violation notice against the non-release of the complete plan document.

The project will be commissioned in 2025–26. Six and a half lakh passengers are expected. A train can carry 675 people in nine coaches. Passengers will have two classes, Business and Standard. The train service is from 5 am to 11 pm.
