Counter-complaints about fights in batch-based programs at EB

In Islami University (EB) the incident of beating occurred on the initiative of the batch ‘Prajjalit-35’ of the academic year 2020-21 over the celebration of Avatarnika festival. Later, 2 students who were beaten up submitted a written complaint to the university administration with the proctor.

Mushfiqur Rahman and Rana Ahmed Abhi, who were injured in the incident, accused 30-40 people including Tasin Islam Rahin, Mubarak Hossain Ashiq and Rabbi Fakir of ambush. Meanwhile, two days after the incident, yesterday Saturday (March 18), the accused filed a counter-complaint against the injured with the proctor.

According to the complaint, when the students of the 2020-21 academic year of the university gathered to celebrate Avatarnika festival last Thursday (March 16), there was an argument over the distribution of T-shirts. Even after the matter was resolved with the intervention of the seniors, three students of Islamic History and Culture Department (Mushfiqur Rahman, Sabbir Rahman Shaon, Rana Ahmed Avi) again messed with the students. During this time, they threatened to look at the common students and showed intimidation by taking the locals with them on bikes. The accused threatened the students and said, ‘If we cross the gate of the campus, we will kill and incinerate our house. At one point in the course of events, students also clashed and clashed. At that time, he behaved disrespectfully with the female students present in the batch. A student left the event after being victimized by eve teasing. At one stage of the argument, the accused Mushfiqur Rahman came to attack with a brick. Meanwhile, the accused ambushed the locals with indigenous weapons and threatened to kill them on the spot.

According to the counter-complaint of the accused, some local students threatened the festival from the beginning and brought local terrorist boys to harass everyone. They (Mushfique and Sabbir Shaon) talked about coordination and then misbehaved with the students and showed local influence. Moreover, during the festival, locals on bikes harassed and threatened the girls. In that incident we (28 people including Mubarak Hossain, Mahmudur Rahman) were the event organizers. At one stage, seeing the chaos on the Bengali stage, I ran and saw that others were having trouble with the students of the History and Culture Department of Islam. We request them to calm down and we had no involvement in the trouble between these 2 parties.

In this regard, Rana Ahmed Abhi said, ‘These are completely fabricated allegations. If we had ambushed them with weapons, they would have been wounded. But it didn’t happen. None of us have had anything like this with any other girl, we don’t know. No local people were there.’

Again, Mushfiqur Rahman said about the complaint, ‘The complaint they have submitted is completely motivated. If it is true, then why is he complaining after 2 days of the incident.’
