Covid 19: Strict inspection in Qatar; Action against 482 violators of Kovid precautionary measures

Doha: The Interior Ministry continues to step up action against those violating Kovid restrictions in Qatar. Another 482 people were arrested for violating the law, officials said today. Of these, 366 were prosecuted for not wearing masks.

108 people were arrested for not keeping social distance. Eight people were arrested for not having the Ihtiras application on their mobiles. All were handed over to the prosecution for further action. Home Ministry officials have arrested thousands of people in Qatar so far and handed them over to prosecution for violating Kovid regulations.

Officials said the action was taken in line with the cabinet decision. Masks should be worn in closed public places. Masks are also mandatory in churches, schools, universities and hospitals. Violations related to not wearing a mask will be dealt with under Order No. 17 of 1990 for the prevention of infectious diseases. Authorities have so far arrested thousands of people and handed them over to the prosecution for further action, the health ministry said in a statement.
