Covid 19 Variant: Exemption for expatriates from entry ban in Oman; Seven-day quarantine is mandatory

Muscat: Oman’s entry ban for travelers from seven countries, exemption for expatriates, health workers and their families. This was stated in a statement issued by the Oman Civil Aviation Authority. All categories of exemptions must comply with the seven-day mandatory quarantine.

People from South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Eswatini and Mozambique are temporarily barred from entering Oman. This is in accordance with the recommendations of the Supreme Committee of Oman. Visitors to these seven countries for 14 days will not be allowed to enter Oman.

The decision will take effect from November 28.

Meanwhile, Omani nationals, diplomats, health workers and their families, as well as expatriates from banned countries and those with valid residence visas in Oman are exempt from the ban. They should undergo PCR examination as soon as they enter the country. The subsequent seven-day institutional quarantine must also be completed. On the sixth day, Kovid will be re-examined.

In addition to Oman, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain have also banned travelers from South Africa following the discovery of the new Kovid variant.
