Covid, 6268, 29 from UK; Death 3042 | COVID-19

Thiruvananthapuram: Kovid confirmed 6268 cases in the state on Wednesday. Kovid-19 has so far been confirmed by 29 people from the UK recently. Their samples have been sent to NIV Pune for further testing.

On Wednesday, it was confirmed that 28 deaths in the last few days were due to Kovid-19. This brings the total death toll to 3,042. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

Of those diagnosed on Wednesday, 102 were from outside the state. 5652 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 460 is not clear. The disease affected 54 health workers.

Ernakulam 12, Kannur 10, Pathanamthitta 8, Thiruvananthapuram 7, Kozhikode 5, Kasargod 4, Palakkad 3, Thrissur, Wayanad 2 each and Idukki 1 were affected by the disease. The test results of 5707 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative.

Ernakulam 919, Pathanamthitta 612, Kozhikode 611, Kollam 593, Kottayam 502, Alappuzha 454, Thrissur 433, Malappuram 394, Palakkad 222, Thiruvananthapuram 207, Wayanad 253, Kannur 195, Idukki 190 and Kasaragod 67 were affected by the disease. With this, 65,394 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 6,87,104 have so far been freed from Kovid.


63,887 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 9.81. Routine Sample, Sentinel Sample, CB Nat, Trunat, POCT PCR, RT A total of 78,53,651 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.

There are currently 2,47,725 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,35,609 are under home / institutional quarantine and 12,116 in hospitals. A total of 1426 people were admitted to the hospital today.

There are 4 new hotspots on Wednesday. The new hotspots are Puthur (Containment Zone Ward 19) in Thrissur district, Chittaur (sub ward 1), Kozhencherry (sub ward 1) and Seethathodu (13) in Pathanamthitta district. 7 areas were excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are currently a total of 460 hotspots.
