HoonSmart.com >> Charoen Pokphand Foods Promote the use of renewable energy Proactively install solar power in 180 feed mills, farms and food processing plants by 2023. Target production capacity from renewable energy to 65 megawatts this year and increase to 100 megawatts by 2025. Aim to reduce zero greenhouse emissions
Mr Peerapong Krinchai, Executive Vice President of CPF, revealed that CPF promotes and aims to increase the share of all types of solar energy use. It includes a solar roof, solar farm and floating solar to generate electricity. To be used in the production process of factories and animal farms, this year there are plans to accelerate the process of installing solar energy in more than 180 farms and factories with a total capacity of 65 megawatts and set a goal in 2025 to increase electricity production capacity of solar energy to 100 megawatts.
CPF has already installed 2 phases of solar power generation systems. The first phase has installed solar power generation systems. There are 27 factories on the roof of Phase 2, 2 of which are floating, and 12 of which are solar farms 10. Phase 3 is being planned to install floating solar farms. and on the roof of 67 factories and in the fourth phase There are plans to operate more than 80 locations, expected to be completed by 2024, including four stages, around 180 locations, which will reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the production process approximately 44,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
“CPF gives importance to power generation from solar energy. It is another form of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the production process. As well as reducing carbon dioxide emissions by producing clean energy. It also helps to reduce the cost of purchasing electricity for farms and factories in the project. when all 4 steps are in place,” said Mr Peerapong.
Mr. added Peerapong that Solar power installations on CPF farms and factories. It is part of promoting renewable energy. At the moment, CPF uses renewable energy for 30% of the company’s total energy consumption. which includes Energy from biogas 30%, biomass energy 68% and solar energy 2% reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 600,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent. or the equivalent of planting 64 million trees, representing an area of 320,000. The solar power generation system installation project was completed. increases solar share to 4%
CPF has announced its commitment to Science Based Target initiatives (SBTi) to set net zero greenhouse gas reduction goals by 2050 to limit global average temperature to 1.5 degrees Celsius 100% Coal for Thailand Operations Achieved 2022 goal Without Coal, moving towards renewable energy The aim is to increase the proportion of renewable energy from 30% to 50% in the year 2030 (year 2030) and to 100% in the year 2050 (year 2050).
