(Los Angeles = Yonhap News) Correspondent Jeong Yun-seop = The new schedule for the American Critics’ Choice Awards ceremony, where the Korean drama ‘Squid Game’ was nominated in three categories, has been confirmed.

The Critics’ Choice Association (CCA), made up of American broadcast and film critics, has decided to hold the 27th Annual Awards Ceremony in Los Angeles (LA) on March 13 (local time), Deadline, a film specialized media, reported on the 13th.

Previously, the association canceled the award ceremony scheduled for the 9th of this month due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) Omicron mutation, and announced a new schedule on the same day.

The association said in a statement that it had considered an online event, but decided to hold a face-to-face event in March with safety in mind.

At this year’s awards ceremony, ‘Squid Game’ was nominated for Best Drama Series and Best Foreign Language Series, and Lee Jung-jae, who played the main character Ki-hoon, was nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series, drawing attention.

However, Deadline said that the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), the largest film festival in the UK, was held on the same day and that the two awards overlapped, so confusion is expected, and both sides are looking for a solution.

Critics’ Choice is considering a satellite connection between Los Angeles and London, UK, for actors nominated for both awards, but BAFTA said that there are currently no satellite broadcast plans.

Meanwhile, the American Producers Association (PGA) also announced that the 33rd awards ceremony, which was scheduled for the 26th of next month, will be postponed to March 19th due to concerns about the spread of Omicron.
