‘Crumpled train’… Eight people injured after derailing the monorail in Yogyakji

The monorail, which emerged as a new tourist attraction in Tongyeong, Gyeongnam, derailed with passengers on board.

Eight passengers were injured when it went off the track and fell 4,5 meters down.

The steel train’s ceilings are severely crumpled, and the passengers in their seats are stuck.

People lift up the tattered ceiling and come to the rescue.

At around 2pm today, the tourist monorail train, which was entering the platform at Yokjido, Tongyeong-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, deviated from the railroad track and fell 5 meters below.

“Because the roof is all crushed to the height of the chair… I don’t give announcements and I don’t answer phone calls…”

Eight passengers were transported to the hospital by fire helicopter and suffered injuries such as broken legs, but fortunately there were no life-threatening injuries.

The monorail was scheduled to be closed for track maintenance from tomorrow, but an accident occurred on the last day of operation.

This monorail was also stopped in June last year because defects were found in 55 rails.

Black smoke rises from all over the reed fields.

At around 8 pm yesterday evening, a portable gas stove butane gas exploded at a restaurant in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, injuring 5 customers.

It is presumed that the gas stove overheated due to using an excessively large fire plate.

Also, at the same time, at the Yeongjong Island dock in Incheon, a woman in her 30s, who had climbed on the breakwater and set off fireworks, fell into the sea 4 meters below and was safely rescued by the Coast Guard.
