[Cymharu perfformiad GPU fesul gêm]Check the performance of “Hogwarts Legacy” with 22 types of GPU! -PC Watch

When validating Hogwarts Legacy, the frame rate was measured when moving a certain course in the dormitory with CapFrameX

In this series, we will use several GeForce and Radeon series GPUs and compare the frame rates of specific games all at once to show which GPU is the best choice for you. The 25th installment will take on “Hogwarts Legacy”, an open world action RPG set in the world of Harry Potter.

The ready-made GPUs are mainly high-end to mid-range ones, 15 types of GeForce and 7 types of Radeon, a total of 22 types of video cards. With the appearance of the RTX 40 series for GeForce and the RX 7000 series for Radeon, some cards from the 18th edition were replaced. The product name and specifications of the GPU to be covered and the video card with it are summarized at the end of the article, including the PC environment used.

Also, since the state of the bench was summed up in the video, please refer to the video below.

Performance comparison of “Hogwarts Legacy” with GPU 1 to 40,000 yen

“Hogwarts Legacy” performance comparison with a GPU in the 60,000 to 80,000 yen range!

“Hogwarts Legacy” performance comparison with GPU 100,000 to 300,000 yen!

As a test condition, set the graphics default to “Best”. No upscaler is used.

Hogwarts Legacy graphics settings

Anti-aliasing is set to “high TAA”, upscaler is set to “none”, NVIDIA Reflex is set to “off”, vertical sync is set to “off”, frame rate set to “no upper limit”

Global quality default is set to “best” and ray tracing is disabled

Since this game does not have a benchmark function, I measured the frame rate while moving a certain course in the dormitory with CapFrameX. This time, based on the measurement results, we will post the average frame rate of full HD and 4K.

Hogwarts Legacy is an open world action RPG set in the world of the blockbuster novel “Harry Potter”, where you will become a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and travel in search of the truth of the wizarding world.

The graphics that reproduce the magic world are beautiful, but the drawing load is high. When the image quality preset is set to the highest “best”, in order to reach an average of 60fps, which is a guideline for comfortable play at full HD resolution, RTX 2060 or higher for GeForce series, RX 6600 XT or higher for Radeon series, and mid range I would say you need a GPU.

In the GTX 16 series, even the top GTX 1660 Ti barely reaches an average of 60fps. It can be said that it is a difficult game to play at high image quality on older generation GPUs.

The high-end GPU has a full HD resolution and the frame rate does not change much because the GPU performance is sufficient, so the CPU is considered to be the bottleneck.

At 4K resolution, reaching 60fps becomes very difficult. The RTX 4070 Ti or higher in the RTX 40 series, and the RTX 3080 in the RTX 30 series finally average more than 60fps.

Due to the narrow memory bus width of the RTX 4070, the frame rate of 4K is not increased compared to full HD.

The fact that the frame rate of the RTX 3080 is also excellent is because it is a high OC model.

Radeon system requires RX 6900 XT or higher. It’s worth noting that the RX 7900 XTX has a higher frame rate than its rival, the RTX 4080.

Let’s try how much the frame rate can be increased by enabling the “DLSS” upscaler that can be used in the RTX series.

Here we set DLSS to “Performance” on the RTX 3070 and ran a similar benchmark.

In full HD, the average is 172.8fps, about 1.2 times, but in 4K, the average is 116.8fps, about 2.5 times higher. I was able to reach a frame rate that I could play comfortably.

Additionally, when DLSS is set to the performance setting and ray tracing is set to the highest image quality, the average is 91.9 fps for full HD and 62.4 fps for 4K. It can be said that DLSS works effectively at high resolution.

Seen by degree, video memory becomes very important.

First of all, a GPU with 6GB of video memory can play at 4K resolution, but only compact rendering can be done. Looking at the video memory usage in 4K, it reaches 7GB to 10GB, and 6GB is completely insufficient.

Also, a GPU with a video memory of 4GB will be a design omitted even in full HD. It can be said that the time has already come when 8GB or more is needed for video memory.

List of video cards used

Some cards have been replaced from the 18th “Uncharted Treasure Hunters Collection”. With the addition of the RTX 40 series and the Radeon RX 7000 series, the RX 5000 series has been broken.

In addition, the RTX 4070 was added from the 24th time, and the RTX 3080/3070/3060/3050 cards were also changed from the previous time due to equipment acquisition. Let me introduce some of them.

GIGABYTE cooperates with the top GPU of the RTX 30 series. The picture is “AORUS GeForce RTX 3070 MASTER 8G”. The high OC specification of the triple fan and the LCD monitor that can display GPU information, favorite images, GIFs, etc. at the top make it rich.

GeForce RTX 3060 uses ASUS DUAL-RTX3060-O12G-WHITE. The best feature of the OC model with two fans is the white color. It’s a blessing if you want to build a white unified PC

In addition, the boost clock of the video card used here is a mixture of score and OC. The OC model is the one whose boost clock in the GPU list is higher than the clock in parentheses.

ASUS’ ROG STRIX series and GIGABYTE’s AORUS have a BIOS toggle switch, but they are all set to performance-enhancing mode. There are products that can increase the boost clock by using tools, but this time I didn’t use the tools and ran the test in the default state.

In addition, NVIDIA’s Resizable BAR and AMD’s Smart Access Memory are enabled for all GPUs that can be enabled.
