First, Wave has confirmed the screening of 138 horror and fantasy genre films at the 26th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, which will be held from the 7th to the 17th of next month. As the opening and closing films of this year’s film festival, Harper (Jesse Berkeley), who left for a rural English village after the death of her husband, respectively, is chased by something unknown and faces the horrors he encounters. As horror films such as ‘The New Normal’ by director Jeong Beom-sik, who have been diligent, have been selected, the movie to be released at Wave is also highly interested in horror movie fans.

Recently, a special exhibition was presented as the main screen by collecting blockbuster films such as ‘The Silence of the Lambs’, ‘The Black Priests’ and ‘Get Out’, including new works such as ‘Seoul Ghost Story’, an omnibus horror movie that deals with 10 realistic ghost stories in Wave. .

Teabing also released new titles such as ‘Rose Mansion’ and the supernatural thriller ‘Ghost’, which dealt with the recent disappearance in an apartment, as well as ‘Paranormal Activity’, ‘Ring’, and ‘Bizarre Magician’ as a special horror special exhibition.

An OTT official said, “Recently, there are hardly any new horror films being produced in broadcasters. However, as there is a clear demand for horror films during the summer season, we are planning to present a mixture of horror films produced for OTT, start-up films, and movies that have been successful in the past. Projects related to horror, horror, and thriller films will become more active.”

In fact, it has been a long time since the ‘Natural Special’, which came back every summer in existing broadcasters, has virtually disappeared. The reason for the slow production of dramas about ghosts or ghosts is that the preferred audience is thin. Dramas with ghosts and ghosts, such as recently aired or aired ‘From Now, Showtime!’

Entertainment is no different. The entertainment programs that used to visit abandoned homes and experience horror as their regular subjects disappeared. The only MBC ‘Late Night Ghost Story Season 2’ is continuing the horror genre. This program introduces various ghost stories reported by viewers, and has built a mania audience through season 1 for a year from March last year, and is looking for viewers again with season 2 from last March.

Broadcasters agree that horror films limited to the ‘mania’ layer are not very attractive items to producers. A terrestrial entertainment official analyzed, “In the past, variety shows dealt with horror content a lot, but it often led to sadistic controversies.

Another official said, “In the case of dramas, it is difficult to say that horror films are actually more profitable compared to production costs. The reason why recent dramas focus on romance while dealing with ghosts and ghosts as the subject matter is that they can also generate additional revenues such as overseas sales and PPL,” he said.
