“‘Daejang-dong seed money’ due to the investigation of Busan savings bankruptcy”… What is the relationship between Park Young-soo and his father?

◀ anchor ▶

It is known that the funds illegally borrowed from Busan Savings Bank 10 years ago were also used as seed money for the Daejang-dong development project.

Reporter Lee Jae-wook continued to point out why candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, who at the time led the investigation into savings bank corruption, is embroiled in the theory of responsibility.

In March 2011, the Central Investigation Department of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office raided and searched 12 affiliates of the Busan Savings Bank Group.

It was the prelude to the Busan Savings Bank investigation, which was said to be “the largest scale in a single financial corruption”.

The prosecution sent a total of 76 people to trial, including arresting and indicting 42 people, including Busan Savings Chairman Park Yeon-ho.

Public officials and business operators who received between 100 million and 300 million won in exchange for various solicitations were also included.

However, Broker Jo Mo, who arranged an illegal loan worth 110 billion won to a developer in Daejang-dong, Seongnam, and received about 1 billion won, was unharmed.

The prosecution has called and investigated Mr. Cho several times, and even after tracking down his account, he has not even made a case.

Cho was sentenced to two years and six months in prison after a re-investigation by the Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office in 2015, four years later.

However, candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, who led the investigation at the time, still denies the allegation of a ‘look after investigation’.

“No, Busan Savings Bank indicted only the part suspected of breach of trust with the SPC (special purpose corporation) loan.”

Candidate Yoon’s position at the time was that the investigation was limited to loans with special business purposes.

However, in April 2011, when the investigation was in full swing, the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation pointed out in a report that ‘Daejang-dong loans had to be classified as PF loans based on business feasibility’.

Candidate Yoon, who said ‘there was no investigation because it was a general loan’, even after looking at all the flow of funds, is bound to be caught up in criticism of ‘insolvency investigation’.

Moreover, the long-standing relationship between former Special Prosecutor Park Young-soo and Candidate Yoon, who said that Kim Man-bae introduced him as a lawyer at the time, is raising doubts.

Recently, a media revealed the upbringing of candidate Yoon, presumed to have been remarks during the 2016 National Nongdan incident.

“(19) I worked at the Gangneung branch in 1996, but it’s been 20 years. I’ve known since I was in Gangneung. I just met as a research officer with the head of heavy water department (big sword), and if that’s the case, I won’t go (to the special prosecutor’s office).”

Former Special Prosecutor Park Young-soo said today, “While working as a lawyer, I have never once solicited a case from junior prosecutors, and there is no reason to ask the prosecution for Mr. Cho’s case.”
