“We will continue our efforts to normalize Daewoo Shipbuilding and improve the low-wage structure of subcontractors and subcontractors within Daewoo Shipbuilding.”

“We will develop a lot of various programs for the win-win development of labor and management, and our partner companies of DSME will take the lead for the development of DSME and the development of the shipbuilding industry.”

Labor and management resumed negotiations from 8 am today and reached an agreement at 4:09 pm.

The union, which initially insisted on a 30% wage recovery, agreed to a 4.5% wage increase as the management suggested, and the management promised to pay for holidays and summer vacations.

In addition, in principle, we have agreed to transfer employment to about 30 union members belonging to subcontractors that have closed their business.

The subcontractor’s union finally ratified the agreement through a member vote with 92% of the vote.

However, the lawsuit for damages, which was a key issue, remained unsolved.

Although we agreed on the principle that the subcontractor’s management does not file civil and criminal litigation, the case that the main contractor, Daewoo Shipbuilding, sued the subcontractor’s union leadership for obstruction of business is because the police investigation is already underway.

“Through additional (labor-management) negotiations, we will resolve the issues raised in civil and criminal matters rationally and amicably. The six leaders will proudly accept responsibility for all issues…”

In the midst of an immediate crisis, the strike ended in 51 days.

Although catastrophes such as the use of police force were avoided, conflicts between labor and management and the government are likely to continue for the time being.
