Tabuna (Brazil): Two dams collapsed in the northeastern Brazilian state of Bahia following a tornado. Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in at least two places. The Igua Dam on the Veruga River near the town of Vitoria da Conquista collapsed Saturday night and the Giuseppe Dam the next morning. No one was reported dead.

The dam collapsed when all the rivers in the area overflowed during the weeks-long torrential downpour. Neighbors were warned to move to safer areas. The main highway from Vitoria da Conquista to southern Brazil is at risk of flooding.

Rescuers evacuate people trapped in homes in the submerged city of Itabuna. Eighteen people have died in Bahia since November due to heavy rains.
