Daniel Ricciardo “One more step needed to support McLaren F1″[F1-Gate .com]

Daniel Ricciardo says he hasn’t fully adapted to the driving style needed to get the most out of the McLaren F1’s packaging on some circuits.

Daniel Ricciardo, who struggled to adapt to the newest F1 car in the transfer team, won McLaren at the F1 Italian Grand Prix for the first time in nine years, but compared to his teammate Lando Norris on other circuits. I am struggling.

Daniel Ricciardo did not play a significant role in the previous F1 Qatar Grand Prix, and Lando Norris set the sixth fastest time in qualifying, while he lost in Q2 and was 14th.

Even in the final, he was unable to make progress due to the need to retreat on the opening lap and save excessive fuel.

“Ultimately, such a long medium speed corner is where our car is most challenging,” said Daniel Ricciardo.

“The McLaren style is the only style that goes through those corners quickly. I think that’s definitely where Rand is doing a better job in those corners.”

“I haven’t decided on that part yet. It’s the way to enter the corner, the combination of brakes and turn-in.”

“I’m trying to get the car to do something and it makes a turn, but that doesn’t allow me to get through the corners quickly.”

“It’s only a 0.1 second difference, but 0.1 seconds in such a long corner add up to 0.3 or 0.4 seconds. That’s actually the case.”

“It’s definitely a weakness of the machine, but it’s still my weakness that I can’t get the machine to work well in a limited area in the end.”

Daniel Ricciardo praises Lando Norris’ performance and describes his abilities as “top level”, but his previous experience at McLaren helped him best understand how to drive the MCL35M. I think it has become. ..

“I know the difference in driving and why I’m facing this kind of problem,” said Daniel Ricciardo.

“If it was easy, I would have already completed it. I think Rand is driving very well. Questions about him proved to everyone this year that he is at the top level.”

“But spending three years on the same machine also helped him dial it.”

“I’m sure I’ve been improving my style since the beginning of the year, but obviously I need one more step and there are some tracks where he’s above me.”
