Daughter and granddaughter drowned in front of eyes; Chest ruptured Nasir | Daughter and granddaughter drowned in front of eyes

Kokkayar: Relatives and locals are mourning the loss of Nazir, a stone-thrower who cries out that he could not save his daughter and grandchildren who drowned in front of his eyes. This old man is lamenting that his children went in front of everyone who came. The tears have not been shed since Saturday’s tragedy.

Nasir’s daughter Fouzia, Fawzia’s two children and Nasir’s son Faisal’s two children were lost in an instant. Nasir came out to divert the water that was pouring into the house from the road above.

When the water was diverted and he entered the house and changed his shirt and pants, the water came again. He told his son that he could return it too and left. Then I heard a loud noise coming from above and saw huge stones and trees coming. By the time he shouted, “Children, run away,” everything had fallen to the ground. The fleeing locals saw Nazir screaming and doing nothing.

Fauzia, who was married in Kanjirapally, came to her ancestral home in Kokkayar to attend the wedding of Naziri’s younger son. The wedding was on Sunday. On Friday, the bride returned home with her wedding dresses.

Faisal was rushed to hospital with his mother on Saturday morning. Fauzia and Nazir were the only four children at home. News of the landslide in WhatsApp groups came while I was in the hospital. They are now at a relative’s house on the second mile from Velanilam.
