Jeong Yoo-ra, daughter of Choi Seo-won (67, formerly Choi Soon-sil), appealed for a pardon for her mother, just like former President Park Geun-hye and Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong.

Choi Seo-won, who was sentenced to 21 years in prison on charges of abuse of power, obstruction of the exercise of rights and bribery, was sentenced to 21 years in prison and was released on December 26 last year after having prevent him from being executed for one. month to have ‘spine surgery’.

Mr Choi, who underwent surgery at a university hospital in Seoul, applied for a stay of execution of his sentence on the grounds of rehabilitation, and was granted a five-week extension until February 28th.

Former President Park Geun-hye, who was jailed for allegedly corrupting government affairs, was pardoned on December 31, 2021, and former Chief of Staff Kim Ki-hoon, former Culture Minister Cho Yun-sun, and former Head of Civil Affairs of the Blue House. Woo Byung-woo was reinstated at the end of last year.

Chairman Lee Jae-yong was pardoned and reinstated on August 15, 2022.
