Kokkayar Landslide The sight of the bodies of six people, including five members of a family who died in the Kokkayar landslide, was unbearable for onlookers. The bodies of the children were found lying in a cradle and hugging. Siyad, who lost five loved ones, including his wife and two children, is a sight to behold in the land of tragedy.

In Kokkayar, 7 houses were destroyed by rocks and water in a landslide caused by heavy rains. Siyad, a native of Kanjirapally, was on the edge of the disaster area when rescue workers tried to find those buried in the soil. Siad lost his wife Fauzia, 10 – year – old Amin, 7 – year – old Amna, and his brother’s children, Afzana and Afiane, in the tragedy. Siyad had hoped that the children would return when they saw the video taken on their mobile phones just before his death.

The bodies of the children were found while removing the soil with JCB and examining it. The bodies of the children were found at the same place. One by one the bodies of the children were exhumed from the ground while the two children were hugging each other and one was lying in the cradle. Their bodies were shifted to Kottayam Medical College. Three-year-old Sachu Shahul is to be found.

Shaji’s body was found floating in Chirayil from Mundakkayam in Manimalayam. Shaji was able to save his son during the tragedy but could not. Ministers K Rajan, Roshi Augustine, MP Dean Kuriakose and Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan visited the site. Delays in rescue operations in the disaster area have also drawn criticism
