‘Defending Champ’ Osaka ‘1st place’ Barty passes the first round of Australian Open tennis

Australia Open tennis tournament women’s singles defending champion Naomi Osaka (14th, Japan) and world No. 1 Ashley Barty (Australia) easily passed the first round (round 128).

Osaka defeated Camila Osorio (53rd place, Colombia) 2-0 (6-3 6-3) in the first round of the women’s singles first round on the 17th in Melbourne, Australia.

Osaka refused to be interviewed at the French Open last year due to mental problems, but withdrew and did not play at Wimbledon at all. They played their comeback game in the Melbourne Summer Set, a prelude to the Open.

Batido, who is considered the ‘winner’s first choice’, defeated Resia Tsurenko (119th, Ukraine) 2-0 (6-0 6-1) and advanced to the second round.

Barty won the singles twice at the majors (French Open 2019 and Wimbledon 2021), but failed to lift the trophy at his home court, the Australian Open.

In the men’s singles event, Rafael Nadal (5th, Spain) defeated Marcos Giron (66th, USA) 3-0 (6-1 6-4 6-2) to win the 21st major championship, the most in history. It started well.
