Delay in correcting visa violations in Qatar | Heres what Qatars new grace period means for expats

Doha: The Ministry of Interior has announced a time limit for legalizing the procedures for expatriates who have violated the entry and exit rules of Qatar. The Ministry has made it clear that this benefit will be available to all expatriates who have violated the Residency Rules, Work Visa and Family Visit Visa Rules between October 10 and December 31, 2021. This delay can be used to correct legal status and avoid legal proceedings.

Expatriates who remain in Qatar as illegal immigrants due to visa violations can approach the relevant centers for resolving the issue during this period. Expatriates and employers can approach the Search and Follow-up Department or any of the service centers recommended by the Ministry. October 10, from 1 to 6 p.m.

The service centers in Umm Salal, Umm Sunnah (Industrial Area), Misamis Occidental, Al Wakrah and Al Rayyan are to be approached for a settlement. This ‘grace’ period is also a golden opportunity for the illegal workers and residents to legalize their status without huge fines.

Mistakes can be avoided, or you can apply for legal waivers. The Home Ministry has issued a new order under the Expatriate Entry and Exit Act No. 21 of 2015.
