Indian star Shardul Thakur, New Zealander Tim Seifert, Indian players KS Bharat, Mandeep Singh and Ashwin Hebbar will be left out by Delhi, according to PTI. An IPL source said that Thakur is a premium overall but his price tag is a problem for Delhi, according to PTI.
Shardul Thakur is the player that Delhi Capitals acquired with great expectations in the last IPL mega auction. Thakur took 15 wickets in the season and scored 120 runs while batting. There was criticism at the time that Shardul Thakur, bought for Rs 10.75 crore, was not performing as per the price tag.
With skipper Rishabh Pant as wicketkeeper, wicketkeeper Tim Seifert and KS Bharat are sure to be less important in the Delhi line-up. This is the sign that Delhi has decided to avoid these players.
Last season, Punjab batsman Mandeep Singh scored only 18 runs in 3 matches. It is believed that Delhi was not satisfied with Mandeep’s performance either. Ashwin Hebbar, who is planning to leave Delhi, is a player who did not get a chance in a single game last season.
Where is the auction? when?
The BCCI has instructed the teams to submit the list of reserve players before November 15. The auction will be held in the middle of next month. Last time it was a mega sale, this time it will be a small sale. BCCI has shortlisted five cities as auction venue namely Istanbul, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.
