Kuwait City: Police have seized 180 delivery bikes that were in service in violation of a ban in Kuwait. So many bikes were seized for entering major highways and prohibited ring roads and violating regulations.

The Department of Transportation’s order banning delivery bikes from entering the main streets came into effect on November 7. The decision to ban major delivery roads comes amid widespread complaints that home delivery bikes can cause traffic accidents. There have also been reports of bikes being involved in offenses, including driving on footpaths and other routines to meet delivery times. Complaints were also raised that this would cause great inconvenience to people, including pedestrians. This was followed by a ban on entry on busy roads.

Delivery bikes are banned on Kuwait’s First Ring Road, Fourth Ring Road, Fifth Ring Road, Sixth Ring Road, Seventh Ring Road, Sheikh Jabir Al Ahmad Al Sabas Causeway, Jamal Abdulnasar Road, Routes 30, 40, 50, 60 and 80. It is mandatory to install reflective light strips on the back of the delivery boxes placed on the back of the delivery bikes and hazard lights on the accessory box. The rider must also wear a helmet. Authorities had warned that stern action would be taken against those who violated the rules.
