The government announced on the 13th that from July, quarantine exemption letters will be issued to those who have completed overseas vaccinations entering Korea for important business, academic public interest, humanitarian reasons, and overseas business trips. At the time of the reorganization, quarantine exemptions were granted only to those entering from 13 countries, including South Africa, Brazil, Malawi, Botswana, Mozambique, Tanzania, Eswatini, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Equatorial Guinea, Suriname, Paraguay, and Chile. decided not to After that, four countries were added, including Uruguay, Colombia, Argentina, and Malta, followed by another four countries, including India, on the same day.

Regarding the reason for expanding the number of countries exempted from issuance, Kwon said, “In four countries, including India and Indonesia, the number of confirmed cases of the delta mutant virus as well as the corona virus is rapidly increasing in that region. “We are very sorry to the concerned parties, but we ask for your broad understanding of the urgent situation.”
The government checks the results of the gene amplification (PCR) test for those who have completed overseas vaccination three times: before entry, within 1 day after entry, and within 6-7 days after entry. In addition, an active monitoring system will be used to prevent the mutant virus from entering the country.
