Park Gwang-on, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, strongly criticized the recent cabinet reshuffle, stating that it is a regressive move that disregards the wishes of the public. He adamantly called for the withdrawal of these appointments, unless they aim to push South Korea back to its dark past.
During a policy coordination meeting at the National Assembly today, floor leader Park Shin Won-sik voiced his concerns regarding the nomination of the Minister of National Defense, emphasizing the potential detrimental impact on the political neutrality of the military and the subsequent weakening of our military power. Additionally, he raised suspicions about In-chon Yoo, the candidate for the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, alleging his involvement in managing a blacklist within the cultural and arts sector during the previous administration.
Strong Regret Expressed Over North Korea-Russia Military Cooperation
Regarding the North Korea-Russia summit, floor leader Park expressed his deep regret over the military collaboration between these two nations, deeming it a threat to the stability of Northeast Asia and international peace.
Particularly noteworthy is Park’s criticism of Russia, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, for allegedly violating Security Council sanctions that prohibit arms trade and military technology assistance with North Korea. This violation raises serious concerns and demands prompt attention.
