When Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon said that the past three years, during the Moon Jae-in administration, were the worst years for political prosecutors to come out, and the Democratic Party of Korea protested, saying, “The Justice Minister has fallen into confirmation bias.”

Minister Han attended the Special Committee on Budget and Settlement of the National Assembly on the 19th to answer questions from lawmakers. Minister Han attended the first meeting held in the National Assembly since his inauguration. In response to the question of Kim Han-jung, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, when asked, “Why do you think there is a popular opinion that the political prosecution will succeed,” Minister Han said, “I think the past three years have been the worst, and I will do my best not to make such a mistake.” When Rep. Kim asked, ‘The past three years have been the worst?’ with a disappointing smile, one minister replied, “I think so.”

In response, Rep. Kim Han-jeong criticized, “The Minister of Justice is now in a confirmation bias,” and “denies everything except what he thinks is right, and only looks at it. Rep. Kim pointed out, “The Minister of Justice is in charge of the realization of justice, and the realization of justice must be fair and balanced.” Minister Han replied, “We will carefully consider various opinions carefully.”

In addition, in the case of Collusion of Prosecutors in Channel A and the case of the alleged accuser, there was a dispute over the case where a minister did not provide his cell phone password. When Rep. Kim asked, ‘How should I handle former prosecutor Han Dong-hoon’s cell phone password problem as the Minister of Justice?’, Minister Han said, “I am the party who received an unfair investigation. I think no,” he said. It means that such a question was counterattacked face-to-face as ‘this kind of political attack’.

In response to the criticism that ‘do not enter with Lee Jae-myung’, Minister Han repeatedly stated, “It is a basic right granted to all citizens.”

Minister Han said, “The president is talking about cooperation, but he is still not aware of how many people are uncomfortable with every word the Minister of Justice says and how much he is obstructing cooperation in the National Assembly.”

When asked by Rep. Kim, “Why do you think the word “Prosecutor’s Republic” is being coined when there is an opinion from the media about the Prosecutor’s Republic, Minister Han replied, “There are many judgments, but I think that the Republic of Korea is a democratic republic in which the people are the masters.” Minister Han Dong-hoon said, “I am no longer a prosecutor, It is difficult to agree with the statement that we are cooperating with the special prosecutor.”
