A two-and-a-half-year-old child named Ilyas died of dengue in Chittagong. He died while undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital around 9 pm on Saturday (August 12). District Civil Surgeon Office said that the child was brought to Chamek Hospital from Kutupalong area of Teknaf.
Besides, 110 dengue cases have been detected in Chittagong in the last 24 hours. The number of dengue deaths in the district has reached 33 since last January. A total of 4 thousand 53 people have been infected with dengue. Among the affected, 261 patients are currently undergoing treatment in various public and private hospitals in Chittagong. Besides, 3 thousand 792 people have recovered and returned home.
This information has been revealed in the report published by Chittagong District Civil Surgeon Office on Sunday (August 13).
According to the report, in the last 24 hours, 65 dengue patients have been detected in government hospitals and 45 in private clinics and hospitals. Eight people have died in the district due to dengue so far this August. At present, 120 people are under treatment in Chittagong Medical College Hospital, 11 people in Andarkilla General Hospital, 27 people in Faujdarhat BITID Hospital, 28 people in Upazila Health Complexes of Chittagong and 75 people in private clinics and hospitals.
Entezar Ferdous, District Entomologist of Chittagong Civil Surgeon Office, said that a child with dengue from Kutupalong area of Teknaf was admitted to Chamek Hospital around 7:30 pm on Saturday. The child died under treatment at around 9 pm.
