The so-called ‘Yun Seok-yeol Division’, a prosecutor close to the former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, swept key positions in the Ministry of Justice and the prosecution, and many prosecutors who were close to the Moon Jae-in administration were pushed back to one job.

Lee Won-seok, head of the Jeju District Prosecutors’ Office (53rd, 27th Judicial Research and Training Institute) was appointed as the deputy chief prosecutor of the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office, who will take on the role of acting as the acting chief of the prosecutor’s office, which is currently vacant. He is a prosecutor who worked with President Yoon and Minister Han in the special prosecutor’s team under the Park Geun-hye government. President Yoon and I have been friends since the days of the Central Investigation Department of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office.

As the chief of the Seoul Central Prosecutors’ Office, which is considered one of the most important positions within the prosecution, Song Kyung-ho (52 and 29th), a prosecutor at the Suwon High Prosecutors’ Office, who served as the 3rd deputy chief prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office when President Yoon was the prosecutor general, was selected. After directing the investigation into allegations of corruption in the family of former Justice Minister Cho Kuk in 2019, he was demoted to the position of the head of the Yeoju District Prosecutor’s Office in Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office in 2020 and the Suwon High Prosecutor’s Office in 2021. The 1st to 4th deputy chiefs of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office also changed color to ‘Chin-yun’.

Shin Shin-yong, head of the Seoul High Prosecutors’ Office’s litigation division (50th and 28th), was appointed as the head of the prosecution’s bureau of the Ministry of Justice, which is in charge of the personnel and budget of the prosecution. He served as the general manager of the preparation team for the National Assembly personnel hearings of Minister Han. When Minister Han was the 3rd deputy prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, he worked as the head of the special first division.

In the Moon Jae-in administration, “prosecutor Chin-yun” who had been transferred from one job to another was promoted to chief prosecutor. In the Moon Jae-in administration, all prosecutors who had achieved success were demoted. Seoul High Prosecutors’ Office Lee Seong-yoon, chief of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office Lee Jeong-su, chief of public investigation department of the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office Lee Jung-hyun, and Seoul Southern District Prosecutor’s Office Shim Jae-cheol, who were selected as representative ‘prosecutors’ within the prosecution, were appointed as research fellows at the Judicial Research and Training Institute.
