The Pope said that fraternity is not possible unless the roots of hatred and violence are first uprooted.

Pope Francis revealed his conviction in a Twitter message linked to the hashtag #HolocaustRemembranceDay on Friday, January 27, when between 1.5 million and 1.7 million people, including Jews and people of other religions, were exterminated by the Nazis between 1933 and 1945.

Papa wrote on his Twitter:

“The memory of the extermination of millions of Jews and other religious people cannot be forgotten or denied. There can be no brotherhood without first eradicating the roots of hatred and violence that fueled this devastating horror. #HolocaustRemembranceDay”

With more than 5.35 million Twitter followers in various languages, Papa’s Twitter messages are available in 9 languages, including Standard, Arabic, Latin, German, Italian, English, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, French.
